Seasonal Planting Laborer I

You can make a difference in your community by joining the Groundwork Lawrence Green Streets / Calles Verdes planting team. Increasing the urban canopy will help save energy, protect air and water quality, and improve overall community health. You will help implement GWL’s Green Streets / Calles Verdes Program, which plants trees in public and private locations throughout Lawrence. Tree planting laborer opportunities are available each spring (April-June) and fall (September-November) planting seasons. The 2020 Seasonal Planting Laborer I position begins in the spring on or about April 1 and ends on or about June 29. The fall planting season begins on or around September 4 and ends on or around November 30. A typical workday starts at 8AM and ends on or after 3PM. Service Opportunities:​

AmeriCorps VISTA Program Coordinator

As an AmeriCorps VISTA Program Coordinator you will serve to increase local support for land protection and stewardship, and to foster an ethic of community service and civic engagement among community groups and volunteers. The DOI/VISTA Program Coordinator will provide general support to the Education, Community Engagement & Development teams, providing education around healthy living activities, help to engage youth in creating social capital, Community Engagement around projects and programs, community event management and outreach initiatives. Education Intern

As an intern in Groundwork Lawrence’s (GWL) education department, you will contribute firsthand to GWL’s work, since 1999, to create the building blocks of a healthy community and empowering Lawrence residents to improve their quality of life. Interns advance GWL’s youth education programming through supporting class facilitation, program development, and program evaluation to ultimately promote fresh food access, environmental education, community health and youth empowerment. Full Education Intern description here.
