It is good to see the state’s COVID-19 numbers dropping and the cautious movement to reopen. In the midst of all that, we are very proud to say that our innovative restaurant meals program operated way beyond its originally funded 2 ½ weeks. With additional funds raised, we were able to keep it going for a total of 10 weeks - right until restaurants were able to reopen for indoor dining last Monday, June 29. Filling an important need created by the impact of the pandemic, 1,600 meals were delivered each week to individuals and families in need, all while keeping businesses up and running until they could safely reopen. Although currently paused, we look to get additional funding from state and federal sources so this critical program can continue to combat food insecurity while supporting small businesses.
