Celebrate Earth Day with Groundwork Lawrence!

Earth Day, Comcast Cares Day 2013 was a Huge Success!

IMG_1176

This April, GWL, the Green Team, Comcast, the City of Lawrence, and many more partners came together to clean up and complete beautification projects across Lawrence. Earth Day was a great success as 547 volunteers dedicated a day to making a positive impact on our community by planting 28 trees and hundreds of bulbs, building community and schoolyard gardens and generally cleaning up our city. Volunteers participated as individuals, groups, and as corporate teams. They worked at 19 sites across Lawrence, including: tree planting at the North Common; building raised garden beds at Costello Park and schoolyard gardens at the Rollins and Bruce schools; mulching at the Bodwell Orchard; building a tool shed at Manchester Street Park; and cleanups along the Spicket River Greenway, Den Rock, Jacques Pond, Storrow Park, and many other sites!
