What: Groundwork Lawrence will receive a fruit orchard consisting of 19 different varieties of fruit trees! This new orchard will benefit the local community with a space to enjoy fresh fruit. Please join us for the groundbreaking and planting celebration.

4:00 - 4:15: Project overview and introductions (Groundwork Lawrence; Lawrence Community Development Department, Fruit Tree Planting Foundation; Edy’s Fruit Bars)
4:15 - 4:30: Ceremonial Tree Planting/Photo Opportunity
4:30 - 6:30: Tree planting; Edy’s Fruit Bars sampling; Tote bag give-away
Where: Bodwell Site, corner of Elm St. & E. Haverhill St.,
Why:The orchard is being planted through a grant from Edy’s Fruit Bars, in partnership with the Fruit Tree Planting Foundation, to provide an ongoing source of fresh fruit to Lawrence community members. Additional funding is from the Commonwealth's PARC grant, which is supporting the building of 4 community gardens in Lawrence.
Groundwork Lawrence, the Lawrence Community Development Department, the Fruit Tree Planting Foundation, Edy’s and local residents and youth will be on hand to plant the trees, with Edy’s providing refreshing Edy’s Fruit Bars to members of the community.
