What is National Night Out?

Each year, communities throughout the nation come together to mark National Night Out, a crime and drug prevention event. Last year in the US, over 37 million people participated in the event! The event is designed to: heighten crime and drug prevention awareness; generate support for, and participation in, local anti-crime programs; and strengthen neighborhood spirit and police-community partnerships. It is an effective, inexpensive and enjoyable program to promote neighborhood spirit and police-community partnerships.
