North Canal District Workshop

Just a friendly reminder that we will be having our first of two workshops to help revitalize the North Canal District this Saturday from 10 am to 2 pm at Union Crossing, 50 Island Street! We will be having a walking tour of the Canal District, with lunch and breakout discussion groups to follow.

Food and childcare will be provided.

Earth Day waivers now available!

Waivers are now available for those who plan on volunteering for Earth Day, Comcast Cares Day on Saturday April 21st.

Please fill out both pages, sign it and you can email it to Rosa, drop it off at our offices at 60 Island Street, 3rd floor, bring it with you on the day of the event.

North Canal Workshops!

Join us with the City of Lawrence and various other partners for two days of discussion on how to make the North Canal District a better place! We are seeking input from the community on ways to improve the area's parks, streets, and the canal. We will be meeting at Union Crossing, 50 Island Street on Saturday April 13th 10:00am-2:00pm and Monday April 23rd 5:30pm-8:30pm. Bring the kids because food and childcare will be provided!

GWL is now hiring!

Groundwork Lawrence is seeking a part-time Bookkeeper (15 – 20 hours a week) to work closely with the Deputy Director and other staff members in a small friendly office with multiple ongoing projects and programs.

North Canal Cleanup Has Begun!

The cleanup of the North Canal has already begun! Rocky Morrison and his crew were recently seen picking up trash, metal and recyclables from the canal and along its banks. To see pictures of Rocky and his crew, click here! This is a preview of the North Canal Cleanup that will be held on Thursday October 20 from 10am-2pm. Participants will have the opportunity to ride in boats and also kayak or canoe down the canal while picking up trash and recyclables.
