Tsongas to host Congress on Your Corner Program at the Lawrence Farmers Market this Saturday
June 24, 2011 -- Every month, more than 44 million people use SNAP benefits to access nutritious food. Most of us probably imagine individuals purchasing items like tomatoes, squash, and apples with their benefits. SNAP, however, can also help people buy seeds and plants that produce edible items. All SNAP retailers, including Farmers’ Markets, are authorized to sell seeds and plants to SNAP participants.
We'll be planting trees at Howard Playstead this evening as part of the park improvements wrapping up this month. We need a few strong volunteers to help dig the tree pits and prepare the site for the 5:30 tree planting with Lawrence's young baseball players. We'll be on site starting at 1:00 PM and hope you can join us!
Legislation was developed with Groundwork Lawrence
Please join Congresswoman Niki Tsongas and Heather McMann of Groundwork Lawrence on Tuesday, May 17 at 11:00 AM at Manchester Street Park, behind the La Fruteria on 75 Manchester Street, Lawrence, for an announcement on the introduction of the Groundwork USA Trust Act of 2011.
Hello Fellow Urban Park Advocates
Thank you for your patience as we secured a new date for the Urban Park Advocates Summit - it will be Tuesday, October 4, 2011, at Mechanics Hall in Worcester. Thanks to the dedicated work of the Summit Planning Team* we’ve got a great format and program to offer but realized that the date in early May wouldn’t allow us enough time to market the Summit as widely as it deserves. But now we can!
